HOW IT ALL STARTED

The Adopt-A-Letter charity program was founded in 2007 by Baroness Kimberly Moore just 10 days before Christmas after coming up with a simple idea to answer Santa letters at the U.S. Post Office addressed to the North Pole that were written by underprivileged children living in the community.

What started out as a cute idea, Ms. Moore was shocked to find thousands of letters written from such needy children and families expressing their Christmas wishes to Santa. While some children wished for toys, others were asking Santa for food, school supplies, blankets and warm socks for their mom.

A six year old boy writes: “Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is a nice warm meal with my family.” “When I started reading these letters, I was heart broken,” says Ms. Moore. “ I would have never imagined that there would be so many children requesting such simple things, right here in our own backyard.”

Kimberly decided to take matters into her own hands by encouraging others to fulfill a wish and Adopt A Letter. Moore has now answered the the letters of over 40,000 children living in some of the most impoverished areas and personally delivered each gift to their doorstep, making their Christmas wishes come true.

Since then, Ms Moore kept in touch with some of the neediest families and decided to take it a step further. She began mentoring some of the children in the communities, building educational projects which inspired a variety of campaigns which also lead to securing music programs in public schools. The program not only answers wishes from Santa, but adopts requests from underprivileged children and families providing relief and mentorship through out the year.

The Adopt-A-Letter program has already secured over 40,000 Christmas gifts to children door to door in the United States and 10,000 internationally! A total of 50,000 wishes answered!

Twittering and the support of the various local television networks such as CBS News, Fox, Good Day LA, and KTLA, capturing of this process offers supporters unique track-ability of the program making it transparent to all who contributed in making these wishes come  true. The Adopt-A-Letter program has not only become one of the top Christmas stories on the news each year, but has also become one of LA's favorite Christmas charities.

Adopt A Letter is a program under the Kimberly Moore Foundation.
